# Base Network

## Why base?

The Old Rock ecosystem token $DENSITY is built on Base. [Base](https://www.base.org/) is a Layer-2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain. Base was a smart choice for Old Rock due to the speed, flexibility, huge gas savings, and the commitment to onboard billions of new on-chain users by simplifying the process with new technology like the [Coinba](https://www.coinbase.com/blog/evolving-wallets-to-bring-a-billion-users-onchain)[se Smart Wallet](https://www.coinbase.com/blog/evolving-wallets-to-bring-a-billion-users-onchain).

## How do I use base?

Bridging to Base couldn't be easier. Base does not have a native token, it uses Ethereum. Your Base wallet address is the same as your Ethereum address. Be careful not to get confused which network you are on. To use Ethereum on Base you need to do two things:

1\) Configure your wallet to show the Base network

2\) Bridge your crypto into it

### How do I configure my wallet?

On network, click 'Add a network' and then 'manually' within Metamask and fill in the following:

Or follow the step-by-step instructions here: <https://docs.base.org/docs/using-base#other-wallets>

If that seems too complicated, there are sites like[ https://chainlist.org/](https://chainlist.org/) that make connecting to additional networks even easier. Just type "base" and connect wallet and you are done.

Once you have configured your wallet to show Base network, you can flip back and forth easily using the drop down button.
{% endhint %}

### How do I add crypto to it?

Simple. You swap whatever crypto you have for Ethereum (BASE) using a bridge. We suggest using a 3rd party bridge as they are significantly less expensive and faster than the one provided by Coinbase.

Orbiter Finance is a fast and cheap site. This link is already configured to move from Ethereum to Base: <https://www.orbiter.finance/?source=Ethereum&dest=Base&token=ETH>

Jumper Exchange is another great site: <https://jumper.exchange/>

A bit more expensive but with excellent customer support <https://simpleswap.io/> is another great option for you.

**NOTE**: If you are converting from a different cryptocurrency (BTC, SOL, ADA, etc) you will have to make sure you set up the bridge correctly. Please contact the [contact](https://docs.oldrocknft.com/important/contact "mention") if you are not sure.
